Ipoh Oldtown Model

Semester 5
Subject: Architectural Studio 3
Assignment: Urban city planning- Ipoh old town model
77 members, 10 groups in total
This project is much more extreame compare to KL town research. After spending 3 days at Ipoh (13 feb to 15 feb),doing research and site analysis, all of us were assigned to build a huge model of Ipoh old town, scale in 1:500. And the tough part is, we have to work together in one, because all our marks will be given as same rate, and if one of us drop down, everyone is gona fail this project. So glad that we manage to finish it on time. Eventhough conflict does happen, bt never once it break d spirit of teamwork :)! So far this is what we've done together, not yet the site selection and analysis as it'll came in later on in individual design.

Spiritual rage

DCA

company: DCA
website: http://www.dca.com.my
trainning period: 1 month

This is my very 1st time doing trainning in DCA, apparently there were some video shooting in that month. I would say that i am pretty lucky to enrole a short tiny character in it. :D
its nothing to be proud of... but just happy that i have longer scene than Mun Inn :p (oopsie...jk XD)

I would like to leave a little of my thoughts while training in DCA... Throughout the whole month, i do learnt a lot of things, in sense of architecture(of course), management, draftmanship, psychology technique, powerful office gossips (believe me, there are no secret in the office :p), knowledge beyond architecture, and more... in just 1 month time, it really changes me a lot.
A little contribution i would like to do for DCA here... to all archi friends, if you guys searching for job/trainning, do put DCA in your list, not because it is the top 20 branded firm in malaysia, but the things that you might experience is something that you never knew... :)

~De Parrelle~

Semester 4
Subject: Architecture Studio 2
Project: Divers Centre
Creature scanning: Table Corals

In this assignment, we were given a site in redang island, a small tanjung in between lagoona bay and redang bay. Then we have to choose a sea creature as the starting point for inspiration. First of all i choose table corals because somehow it look like an building in the middle of the city, together with fishes and other species of corals makes it look even more building like, the way it sits beautifully under the sea attracts my attention alot. :)

so this is how it looks like in diagramatic form.

process of creature scanning
-------------------------------------------------

Part 2 is to design a divers point based on diagrams.
Main feature that is being concentrated on is the horizon of table coral. The way it cantilivered out, overlaps each other and the composition of connection brings out the unity of nature. This is later being included through the theory of nature.
Three major elements in nature consist of sky, water and land. It have a very close relationship with diving, as we need sky as the source for lights, as we dive into the sea, we will be surrounded by water, which is what we touch and feel on our skin, and earth where the beauty of underwater will be seen.
Blend in effect through the building represent the connection of the three elements, as in white for sky, blue for water and brown for earth. The representation of these three elements form the building itself, when it fits into a building, and the building as a representation of connection, a proportion in nature and the environment.
Hench, square is being used as it reflects the calmness in table corals, as it gives a very light respond towards its surrounding. Moreover, it is the water too as a reflection of calmness under the sea.
The access to the building is being plan as a little tour around the island. As we walk along the pathway, we enjoy the view of the environments. By psychologically, it creates a sense of satisfaction and richness in experience along the journey. Let the ocean itself leads us to the building.
The scenic beauty is undenied, and so it is being taken as one of the main feature. From the main entrance we have a blend in effect of the building, and again, a grand entrance leading into the building. As we walk in, we have the reception counter sitting in the middle. Behind reception counter, another panoramic view picture framed by the structure of the building itself. A stripe of water platform is being fixed for safety purpose and yet to safe and emphasize the panoramic view of the ocean. Two boxes sitting beside each other provide a very grand and welcoming entrance. A bridge in between create a leads connected the path into the foyer naturally. Semi transparency tubes react as wall to block rains but yet have the function in allowing winds and natural lightings entering the space within.

phew... too much words? oopsie...cant help it :x
anyway, there are pictures below, hopefully it does help on your imgaination. :)

Theory of proportion

“It is equated beauty with geometry. Buildings should be composed according to the same divine laws of harmony as the human body. The basic forms of proportion were to be double squares and double cubes, enhanced by ornament. Buildings should be a balance of harmonious parts. Nothing could be added or subtracted. Beauty is innate, it resides in proportion.”

We were given a task for our semester break, which doesnt really related to architecturing, but somehow it relates... @.@

haha we were given few topics, and our group voted for HUMAN REACTION.

There are no limits in our video as long as it reflect the topic we chosen.

Hehe... Lets have a look~

basic 3D MAX

this is the very basic 3DMAX i'd learnt so far.
its not the final yet... but just to show a little bit of my progress lately.
i shall declare it as 70% complete.
by using 3D MAX-version 7.0, this is what i could get.
